Sun Paintings

Thirty images, 35mm photographs, 2016 - 2022

This photographic collection of what I like to call Sun Paintings was produced throughout my years living in Lunenburg and Montreal. I am always full of awe when I happen upon these marvels of sunlight, dancing around urban spaces forming glorious patterns and compositions.

I see these reflections of sunlight as markers of thresholds - similar to shadows, they reveal both presence and absence. These temporary shapes exist between the physical and the ephemeral, offering fleeting glimpses of something expansive and beautiful within our everyday surroundings. Through this series, I hope to encourage a slower, more attentive way of observing light and the spaces we inhabit.
